Our mission

Build a sustainable, competitive baseball program that supports our kids’ mental and physical development to prepare them to play competitive baseball beyond 12u.

  1. Skill development and competition. Provide Mercer Island’s most talented and committed 8-12 year olds opportunities for higher level skill development and competition.

  2. Well rounded baseball players. Develop physical, mental and emotional skills as well as teach fundamental game strategies.

  3. Future play. Develop our kids talent to feed into our high school program and continue to play competitive baseball after age 12.

  4. Community growth and celebration. Provide the MI community (kids and families) with a unique opportunity to grow, together, and form a bedrock of support for our kids as we celebrate the game of baseball.

What makes us different

Connection. Play with friends. See familiar faces and deepen relationships with the families your children will grow up with.

Confidence. Kids play better in a trusted environment with a consistent group of people they know well, and have interactions with in the community outside of the baseball program.

Convenience. Stay on-island, as much as possible!! Less travel, more local carpools :) Making the logistics easier on families makes it easier to have fun, and all participate.

Continuity. Our program invests in including every kid in the community as much as possible.

Meet the Program Team

  • Becky Shaddle

    OPERATIONS DIRECTOR, MI BOYS & GIRLS CLUB

    Becky has been with the MIBGC for 14 years. She’s seen youth sports teach kids life lessons, help them build leadership skills, and be transformative to their lives.

    Fun fact about Becky - she can’t WAIT to beat Tony at go-karting!!!

  • Jacob Denenholz

    ATHLETIC COORDINATOR, MI BOYS & GIRLS CLUB

    Jacob grew up in the Mercer Island community and loves sports! He has a BS in kinesiology, and works at MIBGC because he loves the impact he can have on kids growth and development.

    Fun fact about Jacob: He beat Tony at go-karting!!

  • Tony Locascio

    ATHLETIC COORDINATOR, MI BOYS & GIRLS CLUB

    Tony is a kid at heart and loves contributing to the team. He’s been working with youth sports for 10 years, because it’s fun to see the kids growth and improvement over time.

    Fun fact about Tony: He says he let Mike win at go-karting!

  • Mike Williamson

    ATHLETIC COORDINATOR, MI BOYS & GIRLS CLUB

    Mike was an assistant coach for 6 years through his son’s involvement in Little League. He also coached his daughter, for Track and Cross Country, which started him running again. He now coach youth running and compete in various Masters Track/Running events. And he loves to beat Tony at go-kart racing!
